Remotasks 101: 5 Reasons Why 2D Tasks Are For You

Once you’ve joined Remotasks, chances are you’ll be doing more 2D Tasks than you could imagine. Aside from being easier to learn, they’re much faster to accomplish compared to their 3D Tasks counterpart. As such, a lot of Remotaskers do encourage newcomers to focus on mastering 2D Tasks first in order to get the hang of following precise instructions - something that the more complex 3D Tasks are known for. However, there’s more to doing 2D Tasks than just “simple and easier,” and this task category does have some perks that 3D Tasks don’t have.

What are 2D Tasks?

At its core, 2D Tasks is one of the major task categories in Remotasks. This involves labeling and annotating objects in 2D environments such as images and video clips. In real-life applications, 2D Tasks can help identify objects in footage, which can help cameras and other visually-reliant devices to assess what they see in the same way us humans can.

Here’s why a Remotasker should probably do 2D Tasks:

  • Straightforward but challenging projects. Across all task categories, 2D Tasks have the most straightforward instructions but also equally-challenging projects. In most 2D Tasks, Remotaskers see footage divided into frames. Taskers complete these tasks by properly labeling and annotating objects in the scene depending on the rules of the particular project. Interestingly, despite how simple the instructions sound, various projects have small but crucial differences in terms of proper labeling and identification of objects.
  • Remember small changes to instructions. As with 3D Tasks, many 2D Tasks actually have very small variations to project instructions that Remotaskers need to pay attention to. For instance, some projects require certain measurements for outlines. Meanwhile, some projects have different labeling instructions for objects. In fact, these instructions can differ even if different projects use the same footage. If you're a Remotasker who can study and remember how projects differ in terms of these small details, then 2D Tasks may easily become your favorite tasks.
  • Prefer to work with one angle. Some Taskers prefer 3D Tasks because of the opportunity to change perspectives. However, in 2D Tasks, projects stick to analyzing all movement within a single angle. If you're a Tasker who feels comfortable with identifying and describing various objects from only a single angle, then you'll find your favorite tasks among projects in the 2D Tasks category.
  • Eye for detail and love for photography. Most 2D Tasks demand an eye for detail, especially since some objects in the scene can be difficult to see or ascertain at first glance. If you're into photography and appreciating various kinds of photographs, then the complexity of some projects in 2D Tasks can be right up your alley. With your keen eyes, you may be able to spot minute details and differences across frames and determine their relevance to the particular project's goals.
  • Fast and loose with labels and descriptions. Unlike 3D Tasks, Remotaskers working on 2D Tasks simply need to find and label objects from a single point of view. In turn, this means you can finish these tasks as soon as you label all the objects that exist in the footage, and as per the project instructions. In turn, Remotaskers can quickly sift through their 2D Tasks queue to maximize their earnings. If you're keen on working on multiple projects at a time, then you won't have much difficulty with 2D Tasks.

Remotasks in 2D: Straightforward Works!

With the above tips in mind, it’s important to remember that simple and straightforward doesn’t always mean easy. Thanks to 2D Tasks, a Remotasker can engage with multiple tasks in quick succession while following extremely straightforward instructions. If you’re a Remotasker who wants to tackle multiple projects simultaneously or throughout the course of a week, you’ll fit right in with 2D Tasks.
